chapter 6

Where was 2001? What an Odyssey!

Well as 2001 limps to a close and all members of the band are still talking to each other a joint decision was made "We need a manager."

Who do we know? Who can we trust? Who will put up with us?

Strangely someone volunteers! Mr Norman Cracknell, a jolly young thing says "I'll do it." Must be bloody mad mate, but you're on.

So 2002, a manager, a website, a line-up that hasn't changed for a while surely this can't continue. But it does.

Norman brings in more gigs. Other people offer us work. One person in particular hints that they may just have a little surprise for us.

What can it be? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's a contact at Glastonbury Festival. "Who?" We ask, a little nervously. "Micheal Eavis" they reply. "Shit" say us. And after a few weeks a large envelope arrives and we collectively rush to the toilet as it confirms that we are to play Sat night at the biggest Festival in England, by request of the man who runs it. We say it now thank you to Rob Hardy, Nigel Cousins and Micheal Eavis for making our lives a little more exciting and our bowels a little looser.

But as you may have guessed we couldn't let the year go by without tormenting poor Mike at Sound on Sound with another attempt at trying to produce music won't run screaming from. So on the weekend of June 15th/16th we snuck back to North Baddesley and started to record some new material. This offering is going under the title of 'Preaching To The Perverted'. 13 songs for the cd and 1 for the website for free, just in case you're feeling tight and you don't want to be throwing your money away after spending so much on flags for the Jubilee and the England World Cup attempt. Hope you weren't fooled into buying too many for that!

That brings it up to date for the time being. We hope to have the new recording finished for this years Steam Fair which will be at the end of August/ beginning of Sept.

And please remember "A Maggot is not just for Christmas, it's for life."
