In pretty paint and lazy days
She hides her childs smile away
And worries will she ever dance again
Poor little girl ever so scared
Does her daddy really care
She worries that she's not quite all that sane

*But when she's in her peaceful sleep
She dreams of all the friends she'll meet
It could be fun, hey second to none
In a perfect world
She'll run, she'll laugh, she'll love a lot
She'll pick flowers when the weather's hot
She could be free and so happy
In a perfect world

So she gathers up her clothes and things
Cleans the house, the doorbell rings
Could this be the prince shes' been waiting for
Smoothes her dress and does her hair
Arrange herself with such special care
Then falters as she reaches for the door

*It's such a sad and sorry way
To try and live another day
Tranquilised and mystified
For a perfect world
Yesterday was full of hope
Yesterday she knew she could cope
Then it happened againthe pressure and pain
Of no perfect world

It's so sad she's on the floor
Giving her life can't take no more
Drifting away into her perfect world
She's just a little girl at heart
Lying down to wait to start
The journey to her perfect world

Repeat 1st *

In her perfect world x 4
